I had a veneer attached approximately 2 weeks ago and I have pain and sensitivity in the tooth. What's wrong?

Also when I floss between the tooth and the one next to it I experience pain.

  1. Pain and sensitivity in a tooth indicates an unhappy nerve.  Perhaps either the nerve is injured, but alive enough to let you know there is a problem (this is called a pulpitis, and it may or may not (more likely) be reversible), or the nerve is dead an abscessing (this is called a necrotic pulp).  If this is the case, a root canal would be needed.

    Other things it could be...a very bad bonding.  If the veneer was cemented down poorly with voids and gaps, maybe there is enough exposed tooth to be sensitive.  Or for some reason the bonding just didn't go right (not cured long enough or old bonding material used).  This is possible but not likely.

    Lastly, is the pain is just due to some gum irritation, perhaps there is some cement that was left behind under your gums and is really bothering the area.

    In any case, a visit to your dentist and let him\her have a look at you would be the smart thing to do.
