I read-ended a car. These two ladies were in front of me going down a fairly busy highway. They stopped about 75 feet from the stop sign for no reason. Speed limit is about 30 but we were still far enough away we were going about 20 mph. They stopped and i hit them. Didn't really mess their car up but looks like it totaled mine. My engine is crooked and radiator busted. my whole front end it smashed in. They showed to have insurance but the cop said that there was a good chance it wasn't good.( they had dropped the claim after getting tags), I"m 17 years old and have insurance with Farm Beauro. I'm just wondering what will happen and what good or bad will come other that my insurance going up. Thanks. I live in Arkansas.

  1. When you strike a car from behind you will be considered at fault.  Your car can be compensated if you have collison coverage, there injuries would be covered under your Bodily Injury Liability and there vehicle damage would be covered under Property Damamge on your policy.  Depending on how many $ are paid out your rates will go up but to learn more specifically call your local agent.  Good Luck.

  2. Well, your insurance will go up.  Hopefully, you have a decent amount of coverage, otherwise, if their injuries or damages exceed your policy limits, you could be writing some pretty big checks.

  3. Call Farm Bureau and report the claim to them.

Odds are, your insurance will end up paying for the ladies car. You were following too closely. You should have enough space between your car and the one in front of you that the front car can do an emergency stop and you don't hit them.

If you have collision coverage - that will pay for the damage to your car, less any deductible. Your liability coverage will pay for the other car.
