I was in the hospital for about a month and a half. I was very sick. It has been about 6 months since I drank anything. Can I ever drink again safely?

  1. Hepatitis will obviously affect the liver and alcohol has negative side effects on the liver itself. It is always best to consult your physician. It may be possible as longas you avoid bingeing or excessive consumption, otherwise where the hepatitis may have damaged the liver and or jaundice has caused further damage. it will not be up to the same standards as it was befoe the hepatitis. So possibly in small doses but it would be best if you consult a physician preferably someone in internal medicine as they will be specialised

  2. Absolutely not I have Hep C and don't drink.I lost a dear friend at the tender age of 37 to alcoholism. It is not pretty.Let your liver repair itself or you are going to get really sick.Behave you don't need alcohol.

  3. If you are an alcoholic the answer is probabbly no. Only about 7% of alcoholics can drink socially after drying out the rest all go back to overdrinkinbg again.

Whether it is physically safe for you to drink if you are not an alcoholic will depend on the amount of damage done to your liver and whether it has been able to regenerate itself. You would need to discuss this with your doctors. If your liver was too far damaged resuming drinking could be fatal.
