they loved me, he repeatedly told me that i was his best and that he would be in touch. He said that he had one more girl to interview. The interview was on Monday, i sent them a thank you letter on Tudesday, they didn't respond to that. Its now Thursday...Should I forget about it. I just hate waiting.

  1. I would call them and ask if they are still considering you, as you have other job offers that are awaiting a reply!  Make it clear you want THAT job but also that you have other options.

    Good luck!

  2. Call around monday or tuesday and check in let them know you want it!

  3. Hello No Picture:

No, do not forget about it, follow up.  I would advise you to give them a call today and ask if they have made a decision.

I wish you all the best and pray that you get the job!

  4. Unfortunately you have to wait. You already sent them a thank you letter and that's really enough, for now at least. Plus, with the holiday weekend coming up, that may delay a response as well.

I had an interview like yours once. They totally loved me, but still had one or two more interviews to do. I emailed two days after the interview to thank them and that I was looking forward to working with them if chosen, blah blah blah. When I didn't hear back a week later, I figured it was a no go. Two weeks later I was called and given the job. Turns out one of the managers who interviewed me left for vacation the day after interviews, and the other got bronchitis a few days later. That's why it had taken so long. So you never know what could be going on in their lives.

Edit...DO NOT tell them you have other offers unless you actually do. If they hear this they may take it as an ultimatum and tell you to go for one of the other jobs, which is bad if they don't actually exist.

  5. During an interview, always ask "When do you expect to make a decision to fill the position?"  If you didn't, I would follow-up exactly one week from your interview to verify that the position is still open, if it is, then you can ask this question at that time.  The key is to bypass the middle people and get the interviewer on the phone.  By following-up, you are showing that you are still interested in working with them.  If they hired someone else, ask that you be reconsidered if their candidate does not work out (sometimes a candidate does not work out).

If you do not get hired, ask him if he has any suggestions for you for future interviews.   This way you can hopefully obtain a reason(s) why you were not selected (you are too this or too that).  Do not get defensive or argue their reasons.  Obtaining their opinions, will only help you improve your interview skills for the next opportunity.  In addition, you can also ask if the company has any other positions available that you might be qualified for.

You really need to have thick skin during a job search.  Good luck.
