  1. I've had this surgery and it is quite normal to have quite a bit of discomfort following the surgery.  I'm hoping that the surgeon provided you with enough analgesis to help during the initial period, otherwise please call the Orthopod for help.

  2. Yes, that is normal. If it is unbearable, call your doctor or go to the ER for a stronger narcotic pain reliever.

  3. I am a recovery room nurse.  Pain is normal after this surgery.  Are you still all bandaged up?  If so, watch for drainage on your dressing, and for a fever.  These would be signs there is an infection, which can cause increased pain.  Does it hurt worse than it did yesterday?  Are your pain pills, when taken as ordered, helping?  I would say that if your pain meds aren't keeping the pain tolerable to call your Dr.  Not that there is anything wrong, per se, but just so you can get some different medications.  If your pain is tolerable on your pain medication, and you don't have a fever or excessive drainage, then I wouldn't worry.  Keep your leg elevated, and apply ice for 20 min every hour or two.  This will help to reduce swelling, and therefore pain.  Good luck!!
