  1. Don't be afraid to ask for help.  Post-pardom is normal.  Don't let it go too long without talking to your Dr. though, it could turn into more. If you have friends or family that could help during the day so you could get some rest.  Also, babies cry.  When you need to take a time-out, take one.  Letting the baby cry for 10 minutes then checking on it, won't hurt.  It will give you a short time you need to walk away from it when you're getting frustrated.

It is a frustrating time, ask for help, and take 5.

  2. This is normal....there isn't much you can do now.  Plus he probably still has his nights and days mixed up as most babies do at 1st.

  3. Sleep when he sleeps hun. If you have anyone that can help you, please ask them to come help you. Don't worry about cleaning or anything else. Just worry about you and that baby. Also, the crying is normal. Your hormones and emotions are all our of whack. But if you continue to feel depressed, please go see your doctor asap.

  4. Hunny, I feel for you and I am sorry, if I were to every adopt a child it would never be a newborn because it is so emotionally frustrating! His wake up time was from 10pm until 7am everyday.

I went through the same thing the first 2 months with my son, you just have to some how get though it, have a good support system.  My cousin, my mom, and my brothers girlfriend came over to my house and sat with him while I took naps.  We tried everything and nothing worked, but then at 2 months he started sleeping at night now and 2 1/2 months old he sleeps the entire night most nights.

He is such a joy to be around and amazes me everyday.  It'll get better hunny, just hang in there, it'll get alot more fun and you will get more sleep.

    *hugs*

  5. You have to sleep when baby sleeps at first. He should be sleeping more than hes awake. They may feel like cat naps but that's what they do. Make sure he's getting enough to eat. He will start to sleep regularly. About your crying that is perfectly normal but look out for PD (Postpartum Depression). It is very serious and very real. Read up on it so you will know the signs. Good Luck to you

  6. Hi,

Your baby is still very young at the moment but I think the most important thing to start with is to get your baby into a good sleep routine.  I had massive problems with getting my 4 month old son to sleep.  He would just lie awake and cry for hours, then when he finally went to sleep he would wake every hour or two hours through the night and cry again!  Talk about pulling our hair out .... we were absolutely desperate for sleep!

It was a baby sleep audio program recommended by a friend that finally saved us. We followed the advice and began by creating a baby sleep routine which included bathtime, dimming of the lights, putting James into his crib, final nappy change and then lullabies. We also made recommended changes to his naps during the day and used some of the other recommended techniques. Within two weeks he was sleeping through the night most nights with just the odd night where he would just wake once!

Definitely start by creating a good baby sleep routine though and you could find that solves most of your baby sleep problems.

    Good luck!

  7. Normal, unfortunately.  Usually, the first two or three weeks are the worst, sleep wise.  Then the baby usually starts to settle into a pattern of sorts, and you can sleep a little better.  Do you have any family/friends that could keep him during the day for a few hours while you rest?  If so, let them!  Take advantage of all offers of help!  After a couple of weeks, he should settle down a little bit, and you should also start feeling better.  If you don't, you might need a little help getting your hormones straightened back out, so don't hesitate to see your doctor.
