I had my cashpoint card cloned when I was visiting my Mum in Keswick. 2 ATM withdrawals were made in Coventry, and the bank wont reimburse my money. I hadn't lost my card and nobody knows my PIN but me. I really need advice as I don't know what to do - the police won't help and I could lose my home as I can't pay my rent. What do I do??

  1. Cloned?  what is that, sounds like that may be the problem and the reason why the bank won't cover this.

  2. Why on earth won't the bank reimburse the money?

I had $1000 stolen out of my online account and the bank returned the money immediately, and THEN investigated to confirm that I didn't steal it myself.

I'd say file a report with the police, and demand reimbursement from the bank. Make sure you speak to s supervisor. Don't bother talking to the person that answers the phone.

If they won't reimburse you, then get your money out of that bank and into another one! Get a new ATM card and pin as well.

As for your rent, you won't get kicked out. Just call your landlord and explain what happened and pay as much as you can and then make payments on the amount you owe in back rent.

The landlord would most likely rather keep you as a tenant rather than try to evict you and pay to find a new tenant.
