  1. Use 14-16oz gloves of good quality. I suggest rival boxing gear as they design gloves with excellent wrist support for beginners and for women. When you throw your punch, aim to land your punch with the ring finger knuckle.

Lighten up on your punches. Stay loose. Right now it's all about technique. Hard punching comes later. Concentrate on your foot work and your balance. Always be in balance.

If you have sore spots, apply ice. No heat treatment as that'll increase the swelling. And no shame in taking pain killers for the first bit.

  2. Yes, it is due to your lack of experience on how to throw a punch. Plus, your wrist has never been used like that over and over in that type of stress muscle memory.

  3. Yes, it is common. You will simply have to get used to keeping your wrists straight to prevent them from bending awkwardly, and perhaps try wrapping them tighter if the wrist wraps were too loose.

  4. Absolutly, get some hand wraps and tight gloves and your wrists should be fine in about a month of training.

  5. You definately want to tape/wrap your hands that will help keep all the bones in your hand good and everything but make sure your throwing your punches with a straight wrist. You should definately go to a boxing gym with trainers to make sure you're doing it right. When I first started I had the same problem and even when I stopped for a while to let them heal it took a while so try not to do anything bad to it or it'll really start getting annoying.

  6. did you tape your wrist? that helps.. for next time.
