  1. Sorry, but as far as i know guinea pigs always have that fear. I work at a pet store and even when they are in groups, and someone walk's up to them they all freak.

In my brothers class they had one as a class pet, after a year the guinea pig was friendly to all the kids.

Try handling it alot, hold it close. Even though it may take a while he will get used to you!

    Good luck!

  2. You should try talking with it. Let it get used to your voice and hands talk to it while holding might sound scary but that workied for my drawf hamster so i think it will help you too.

plz help me if you can i really really need help. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

  3. Have you held it a lot?  maybe it doesn't like that.  Try talking to her, they feel more comfortable that way. :)

  4. you should socialize with it better

  5. Some Guinea Pigs may take a little longer then others.

Try to take her/him out a couple times a day and if they start to get stressed put them back in their cage and try again later.

Talk to them a lot in a very soothing voice too and give them LOTS of treats so that they can get used to you.

When giving treats, give them to her by hand so that they smell you.

    HOPE THIS HELP,

    -Amanda

  6. I think mine are tramatized or whatever from before I got them.    Had mine for a few months and they will trust me and eat out of my hand, but they are scared stiff when a hand reaches out to touch them or pick them up.  Not sure why this is.

  7. some animals are just like that because they don't trust people.

Ive had alot of pets and some where just scared and jumpy alot but it gets a little bit better.

u could try to make her not scared but i wouldn't waste my time trying

  8. You may have something in the house with a smell that's causes the fear, such as a Dog or Cat? If you pet Animals then go near it, or allot of noise in the house that could cause it also.

  9. well, if it is still scared of PEOPLE, than you might want to try talking to it softly when you feed it, and take him or her out more. jut give him/her alot of attention. now, if he/she is just HUMPY, than there is probably nothing to worry about. do you have other pets? that could be a problem, as well.

  10. It depends on how you define "scared." Guinea pigs are still naturally jumpy little creatures. If it's just always freaking out, make sure that when you hold it you're holding it next to your chest. If she's actually biting, just put her back in her cage when she does, and give her carrots or treats and the end of playtime when she was good. Take her out EVERY day and make sure to talk to her. :)

  11. This means just spend time with it more.. Try taking it out of its cage.. Talking to it, (that's what made mine more comfortable. Also try timothy hay. (every pig loves it) and try hand feeding it timothy hay..... They learn to trust you more and more each day...

  12. Well for your Guinea pig to get to know you better you have to interact with it at least once daily. You try to get it used to your smell before even trying to get it out of the cage make the guinea pig comfortable enough to eat something out of your hand like fruits and veggies. This is what i did with my two guinea pigs and once they warmed up to me they couldn't wait for me to pick them up each day. Hope this helps.
