I had a c-section and my incision is healed. I know you bleed for a while after having a baby but it has been over 5 weeks and I am still bleeding. I did stop for about 4 days, now its heavier then ever! (TMI alert) it has been 6 years since I used pads so not sure how normal this is because with tampons you don't really see anything and I know this may be different then a period, but i fill a pad within 2 hrs. I woke up last night and my PJ's were stained so bad. Also, when I sit to use the restroom, when I'm done all the water is so red. Is this normal? When will it stop? Also, when did you get your 1st period post baby?

  1. I had a c-section with both of mine and bled about 4 weeks each. But I'm also breast feeding (and take a mini-pill) so that tends to hold off the return of a cycle for a while. It was 6 months the first time before my period returned. Now, my second is 8 weeks old and still no sign of a cycle. I'm expecting basically the same thing as last time.

It is possible that you've already started your cycle and I have heard and been told that sometimes when it comes back, it can be heavier than before pregnancy.

I'd say if it continues much longer, perhaps speaking with your Dr to rule out any other possible issues.

  2. I had my little girl on the 15th July and I was bleeding for 4 wks and stopped for 2-3 days then I had heavy bleeding, I just thought it was like a period 4 wks later just like any normal period if this makes sense

  3. i had a c-section too and i bled for 8 weeks in total, it was another 3 weeks after that when I got my first period and it lasted nearly 3 weeks, didn't think my body had that much blood. i was told by my health visitor that it varies how long you bleed for but if you are worried go see your GP as you might have an infection which is also common after child birth.

  4. that sounds pretty normal to me. every woman is a little different in this though. some people bleed for only 2 or 3 weeks and some atleast 6 weeks...

if you are very concerned about this you should speak to your doctor though. since you didnt deliver vaginally it wont be any broken stitches though so I dont think you need to worry...

  5. Filling a pad within two hours is not normal.  Call your doctor and see what he suggests.  And as for my period, I got it about 2 months after I had my son and I don't have a period after having my daughter due to the birth control that I chose this time around.

  6. after my c/s, I bled for about 4 weeks, then a week later I had my first period... and I was exlusivly breastfeeding. call your dr if your concerned, if the blood smells bad, or if you have a fever, or pain...

    congrats

  7. I bled for 61/2 weeks with my son and I had a csection as well. It was very heavy the first few weeks, slowed down to almost clear and the sixth week is when I had my menstrual cycle. It too was very heavy. As long as you aren't passing BIG clots or anything I wouldn't worry, just be sure to mention it at your Dr. visit. TMI here lol but before I went to bed I would put on two pads, because you know how it likes to go up your backside...I just did that at night.
