I had open hrt surgery for a mitral valve repair 4 mo ago . Why do I get light headed every time I bend over?

  1. I also had a heart surgery (last year) -- my aortic valve was replaced.  I notice being lightheaded occasionally too since the surgery.  My cardiologist tells me it is often a result of taking a blood pressure medication (Metoprolol, Lopressor, etc.)  If you get it frequently, you may want to talk to your doctor about adjusting the medication or the dosage.  Also, it can make a difference when you take your medication.  I take mine at 10am and 10pm (50mg at each time, instead of 100mg once a day)


  2. i have had a heart surgery too...and i had that problem im not a doctor ut what i think it is is that were not use to the amount of blood flow that going thru are body wheter it be faster or slower moving...i just think that our body is just trying to get a feel for the new self
