I had the battery changed

Question

i had the battery changed on my water-resistant watch by a jewelry store and now the watch leaks. i no longer wear it around water but it keeps stopping. the watch was a xmas gift in 2006 and i had no problems til the back was taken off by the jewelry store.is it still covered by the warranty?
