series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Chennai.
Australia’s skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Graham-Downton-c44379 Cowan; however, the middle-order could not live up to the
expectations.
At one stage on day one, Kangaroos had lost five of their top batsmen for just 153 runs on the board. Henriques rose to the occasion at the moment and helped his skipper rescue the situation for the Aussies. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 and Henriques accumulated 151 runs for
the sixth-wicket partnership, with the all-rounder scoring 68 runs off a 132 balls with the help of five boundaries, before being dismissed in the 90th over of the day while trying to sweep http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228.
While speaking to reporters after the match, the 26-year-old cricketer expressed his disappointment over not converting his start into a big knock and admitted that he should have been a little more careful at the latter part of the day’s play. However,
the Portugal-born cricketer is satisfied with his first appearance in the five-day format.
"I certainly think I had the opportunity to make it my best innings [in all cricket] but it was a little bit disappointing, I really wanted to get through the day and make sure we finished five wickets down," the all-rounder said. "I could have been a little
bit more ruthless at the end. But if someone said you're going to have 60-odd on debut I'd take it."
The all-rounder also praised the efforts of Ashwin, who grabbed 6 wickets on day 1 and troubled the Aussie batsmen.
"He [Ashwin] is a little bit taller and puts some really good work on the ball, the ball is fizzing and can bounce or not bounce, or spin or not spin," Henriques added.
