Ok so here is my description... I need to know what the names are for it...

I believe it was kind of an appetizer. It was raw beef. Cut into very thing but fairly large strips. It was unseasoned and uncooked, but melted in your mouth. Came with some sort of dipping sauce.

What are the Japanese names for this type of thing...and where can I get some for me

  2. Sukiyaki is actually very thin slices of raw meat (along with  some tofu & vegetables) that are simmered in a light broth at the table.  It is a hot pot type of meal.

I think what you had was a Japanese version of tartare or carpaccio.  It's a more modernized dish, was it Kobe beef?

I think you had Kobe Beef (or Wagyu) tartare or carpaccio.

Thin raw slivers of beef served with a dipping sauce.
