A few nights ago I had a dream that our house was destroyed by a tornado. My entire immediate family was with me. Everyone made it out safe. I was so relived that everyone was safe. I then realized that I didn't have my baby (she's 12 months old) I started to scream her name and it woke me up. I woke up screaming and crying (I get really emotional thinking about it now.) I woke my husband up by screaming and crying. I get a little weirded out when I go to bed b/c I don't want to have another dream like that. Has anyone been thought the same thing? I had a dream similar when my oldest child was my baby's age. I know that this probably contributes to the dream..... At the beginning of May we were having some bad weather. We had a few tornado warnings. I live in the Midwest....I'm used to it. It was 1:12 am....I remember vividly.....I woke up out of a sleep to the unimaginable gust of wind. I had the bedroom window open. My husband was running up stairs to get me and the

  1. I'm not an expert in dream interpretation by no means, but i do believe in God and Jesus as the son of God. this is what i think, i think the enemy (the devil) is trying to scare you through your dreams. He is trying to put fear in your life through your dreams , maybe i don't know you but maybe you believe or have mentioned it to someone that you think dreams have a meaning, and they do. but not all dreams are what god has for you. Jesus only wants His best for you and this dream isn't His best. what you have to do is pray before you go to bed and remind the enemy (the devil) he has no power or authority over you even while you sleep. you remind him (the devil) of his future and remind him of your with Jesus. also you must pray for your children always everyday that the Angles of God protects them from any danger in this world. when we (people) accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior then we have the spirit of Jesus living inside of us and with that (His Holy Spirit) we also have the power and authority to trample over the devil. just speak the words and always say in Jesus name over any situation that you have, and you will see these dreams and other things will have into place for the things that Jesus has for you. oh pray for peace God Bless you.

  2. Our dreams serve the purpose of helping us clear our conscious minds and preparing us for the real world.  You dreamt about tornadoes because you are worried about them at least a little somewhere in the back of your mind, and therefore, your mind was running you through a "practice run" so to speak, so you wouldn't have to consciously worry about them anymore.  We work through our issues in our dreams... so that if that ever happened for real, you would be sure NOT to forget your baby in the house.  By dreaming the worst, it is sort of a way of guaranteeing that it doesn't happen.  Things are always more memorable when there is more emotion involved - if it hadn't been gut-wrenching, you would forget the dream and not remember it in a real life time of crisis.

This dream was NOT telling the future - this was you being a caring mother, and your mind practicing the skills you might need, the chance however small, if this situation ever occurred.

I have never had that particular dream because I haven't lived in a place where I felt threatened by them, but I had plenty of "Oh no, the baby!" dreams when he was little.

I can't promise it won't happen again, but at least knowing why you dream these things should help you get over it if it happens again.  Take your dreams as proof that your emotions for your children are so strong that your brain subconsciously is working itself out, like going to the gym, so you don't crack under pressure if the time ever came for that kind of strength.
