I had to call the police because he breaks, throws, and punches and pushes me to get his own ways. Yesterday, he sat on the computer from 7 am-6pm without drink or food. I asked him to get up, he refused so, I turned the main switch off then he got very angry and tried to pull of the main switch off the wall and he took off and threw all the photo frames from the wall.

Police came around and talked to him BUT they took his date of birth and including my little one who is 14 and mine date of birth. Now, I am worried sick about my son and wondering why they took the personal data for just having a word with him. Will this be a problem when he lookes for a career job in future.

I called police station and asked but the person who picked up the phone wasn't really sure and she said 'may be they kept a file', but why?

Please help me

  1. Hey you did the right thing. If you didn't do something now, trust me, it would only get worse (it's so eery, but your son sounds just like my brother, and he's still a nightmare!)

This will NOT AFFECT him for any future jobs. He does not have a record (which even at that age, gets dismissed after 25 years old, as long as it's not a felony).

BUT, the file they keep is different than a record. Every time you call the police, there is a file. This is a safety precaution for the police department to see if there's ever a trend going on. It's completely harmless. I had no idea I had a file until I went to the police station. There was a file for every 911 call I ever made to my house, from every person in my house. G-d forbid there's ever a serious problem, they look to see if there was ever a trend of problems related to each other

  2. BOOT CAMP!!

  3. i have had the poice do that to me too they alays do that and yeah that ca have a effect on his future career what if he gets mad at his boss what is he gonna do hit him i have the same problem with my younger brother i would just start taking the thing he likes to do away until he learns and if he keeps it up military school is always a option

  4. Every police call out has to be reported officially. I've had cops come to my house about domestic disturbances that don't even include me! (The people who lived here before us have called  emergency from there phone... which is still registered to this address) They have taken my details, but like I said,. It's just to be officially put on paper

Not sure if I helped as to the "why they do it" factor, but thats... why they do it... lol

  5. probably took the information to be prepared if you have to call again. Look at getting your son into anger managment and be prepared the time may come that you have to kick him out

  6. You know what - the police are not your problem here. If your 16 year old pushes and shoves you around - that is the problem. You need to get some control over him - perhaps some family counseling is in order cause soon your 14 year old will be doing the same thing.

If he will push and shove his own mother = will he do that to a girlfriend or wife , yes, most likely. He needs some help to deal with his anger.

  7. they keep a record in case they need it at some point- if something really bad happens, they can pull it up in court, to determine where the situation could lead and try to figure out the persons behavioural pattern.  I know, it sounds useless... but they do it anyway.

As for the job, it really shouldnt play any part in affecting any of his career paths- as long as he isnt actually convicted of anything horrific.

As his parent, u r in a tough place- trying to do the right thing.  Dont worry about his future because of calling them out to have a chat to him, it wont b affected. I really hope that things get better for u!!

  8. Obtaining details from all parties even for minor offences is standard procedure. Nothing to be worried about.

It is very likely that they did record the incident and keep it for record, this is just so that if there is any further calls to your address they can bring up that information and obtain details relating to past incidents..

Your son is 16, he falls under the law as a juvenile, so as soon as he turns 18, any records as a juvenile are wiped, unless its significantly serious like a murder etc. He wont have any problems getting a job. Even if the record wasn't wiped, there would be nothing to worry about, considering its only a minor offence.
