I had unprotected s*x.. ?

i have been ttc for about 4 months. on the 26th, i had stretchy cervical mucus, so i had unprotected s*x. today, on the 31st, i still have stretchy cervical mucus.. so that must mean i ovulated today right? did i miss my chance of conceiving by having s*x only on the 26th because all the sperm are dead by now?

Ovulation is a complicated thing.  The 1st thing is to make sure that you have regular periods (every 28 to 30 days)  The best chance of catching that ovulation time is to count 14days from the 1st day of your last period.  This is your window.   What you want to do is have unprotected s*x on days 12, 14 and 16. We say every other day because sperm live for up to 3 days.  This ensures that you will have sperm available to fertilize your egg when you in fact do ovulate. It is good that you are watching your cevical mucus but you cannot rely on this alone.  4 months of TTC is in reality not that long. Tracking your period will ensure that you catch that ovulation.  Remember unprotected s*x starting on the 12th day after the first day of your period and then every other day.....good luck.  Be sure to start taking a pre-natal vitamin, now.  One that contains folic acid (promotes brain development in your fetus)
