Question:

I hate being an artist?

I enjoyed doing art (painting) growing up; was pushed into persuing it as an acedemic vocation by my teachers. I now am near completeing a university level art program with great grades, but do not want to do art (that others see) anymore. I would be loathed to persue any art/design related career. I am a terrible artist and dont know why i get such good marks at school.... what should i do??

  1. I feel your pain. I was pushed into doing art too, and when I finally graduated from Community college with an AAS in Visual Arts I went on to a really good art school -- only to get there and finally surface the feelings you have. Within a month I left instead of graduating with a degree whose perpose I wouldnt want to persue as career.
Now I'm restarting my entire path and getting a Health Science degree- and couldnt be happier. I'm sorry that you are feeling this way -- but no matter what do what your heart tells you instead of forcing yourself through this-- just do it! after you graduate, find ways to work into your other interests if you cant go back to school right away for something else. Make sure you are making yourself happy -- not those who think you should be doing art.
