  1. hey you think its bad eating in front of others? when i went to my girlfriends house (weird *** family), her dad made me **** on the toilet in front of all them. then i had to wipe my *** with poison ivy...all over.  It was bad.  and whenever i doo doo it stings.   you still hate eating in front of others???

    p**p

  2. one tip that just looks better:

dont open your mouth to take a bite until the food is actually in front of your mouth.

  3. The Chinese typically eat family style, so you will have to get over this problem.  Just remember that you're eating with a whole bunch of other people.  Why do you hate eating in front of others?  Do you have bad manners or something?  Are you afraid you'll offend someone by the way you eat or how much you eat?  Think about these things and start working to get over this problem.  It might be helpful to seek some professional counseling about it.

  4. I face the same problem, I can't eat in front of any body, the reason is, when I was teenage, my parents were always on tour, and the time to talk was generally at dinner, and I used to get abused or scolded etc. during dinner, so I developed habit of eating in my room alone, and now that has become regular practice.

  5. Don't worry, I used to have the same problem. Still kind of do, just depends on the people I guess. Try getting used to eating with friends and other people close to you for now. Make more conversation when you are eating around with people so you don't have to focus on that.

  6. you're going to China?  Everyone eats all the time in Asia.  I used to prefer to come home to eat if I was out when I lived in the UK (unless it was a restaurant or something), but since living in Asia, I've got over that big time - people are just always eating!  Now I don't mind - I'd eat noodles with chopsticks and munch pasties walking along the street.

People also sometimes have strange table manners - some will eat with their mouths open, talk with a mouthful of food and shovel it in like it's going out of fashion, not to mention making a real mess all over the table!  So if you're worried about table manners - I'm sure you'll be fine with that.

Sharing food is a big thing too - people don't get served a plateful of food, they have it all in serving dishes and everyone digs in.  Often there's no serving spoon either, people just use their own cutlery or spoon which some westerners find odd when they first move to Asia, but soon get over it.

Eating is more of a fun affair in Asia I find.  I think you'll be OK there.

I hope you have a great time.

  7. I use to be the same way. You need to just get over it and eat. People know you eat so don't worry about it and besides they are your family and you might as well get use to eating in front of them or you will starve to death..
