  1. Here's an alternative view for what may be causing your math problems:

  2. You don't say whether you are doing algebra I, algebra, II, geometry, calculus, adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, fractions, or what.

  3. For any math class, you need to pay attention and take really good notes. If it's the teacher that's confusing you, you obviously need to find a better teacher. If you really think it's you that just doesn't get the info, then you need to attend tutorials or find a tutor. Math is definitely a subject you don't want to get behind in, esp. since standardized tests rely so heavily on math sections.

    Hope this helps.

  4.       I am a 7th grade math student, and I use many techniques to obtain passing grades in this subject. Some are:

    - Write down whatever the teacher writes on the blackboard, in addition to any repeated or emphasized facts or processes the teacher introduces.

-Study your notes every night. This will help you memorize the skills and increase your test grades.

-Double check your tests. This has improved nearly all of my test grades, some by a very large margin!

-In class, frequently ask questions. You'll just lose points on tests if you don't understand the concepts!

-Keep a record of your test grades. This will help you identify trends in your grades and help you maintain or correct them.

    - Always come to class prepared. If you don't have what the teacher requests, he/she could deduct points from your average!

-Participate in class often. Some teachers include class participation in their grading policy.

-Show your work. This will boost your test grades considerably.

-Finally, if you hate math, just make it fun. You can associate almost every mathematical topic with something enjoyable, e.g. if you are doing percents, pretend that the problems are about discounts on clothes, books, or any other product you like! This will put math in a context that will satisfy you.

Hope these tips help, and good luck in your math class!
