I hate my school what can I do to make it better?

I just moved to a new school I am from the south side of chicago originally and I just moved to the suburbs. Everyone is so different here and I don't know what to talk about. I have been here for a week and I have hardly talked to anybody. People where I am from will start conversations and here if I start one I usually just get like one word responses. What should I do to make it better or to make friends.

Just be yourself and don't be afraid to start conversations with people. If you are friendly, and don't try to be anything you're not, it will happen. People will see you for who you are, and you will gain friends who will stay with you because they know the real you and like you for it.
