Question:

I hate the birthday present?

My husband got me a deep fryer for my birthday. I think that deep fryers are dangerous. I have visions of the hot oil tumbling down on my beautiful toddler, disfiguring him for life. We don't have a very secure counter space in our kitchen for this kind of apparatus. Also, deep fryers catch on fire easily. Seeing as I will never use it, I don't trust that my husband is vigilant enough to use this apparatus safely. I am deathly afraid of dying in a fire. I want to take the fryer and leave it somewhere far away and when my husband asks for it, I will just say it got lost or something. Am I taking this too seriously? What would you do?

  1. tell your husband the truth, maybe he'll understand and take it back to the store to get you something else instead. If you don't want to do that then try hiding it or breaking it or pretend to use then break so he thinks it is junk and gives it back to the store for a refund.

  2. yep dont use it

  3. just pack in away somewhere in your house and randomly tell your husband you used it to make bacon and then just make some real good bacon in the oven.

  4. use it but carefully if you're scared..and don't lie to your husband and tell him that it was lost or anything..if you're REALLY scared, then tell him about it..he is your HUSBAND!! i'm sure he'll be fine with the fact that your scared or whatever!

  5. See a psychiatrist to deal with your fear of fires and burning alive.  The problem is not the fryer, it's your mind.  A fryer is perfectly safe!  It's no different than any other appliance, oven, grill, etc.  Only in irresponsible hands, do fires happen.  I would imagine your fear stems from something in your childhood?  Professional help should be able to help you uncover the deep rooted problem!

  6. Just tell him the truth. You don't like it. I received butterscotch and fudge for my birthday from my partner. I absolutely hated it. I told him did you know I don't have a sweet tooth? But thanks. Now we just laugh about those things. He says things like, "hun, I know you don't like this sort of thing right?" Its no big deal. Just tell your husband you hate it. Otherwise, he's going to get you a 50 year old gas stove next year.

  7. Be honest and tell him how you feel about the deep fryer, explain to him what you told us,make sure he knows that you appreciated the thought, but that gift is not for you, and ask him to please return it because you do not want it to be a waste of money.

  8. a deep fryer is not that dangerous!

i know the thought of boiling oil is creepy!

but dont worry about it much!

it would only b hot wen u r using it! and thats a couple of mins a day!

u can keep ur todler away from the room for that long!

ur husband mite think its rude that u r not using it!

and this way! you would b safe! and u would make him happy!

ppl feel happy wen they see that we are using their presents! no matter how stupid or useless they are! it doesnt matter!

for his sake! and ur todlers sake!

    goodluck!
