ok im a minnesota viknigs fan but when the patriots were playing the giants and tom brady hooked up with randy moss for the most touchdowns thrown (by tom brady) and the most caught for a touchdown (by randy moss) they got a 15 yard pentaly for the team celebrating. and thats what led to the touchdown return by the giants on the next play. but when brett farve threw the most touchdowns in nfl history he was celebreating like razy, giving hive fives, jumping, screaming, and at the end carry donald driver on his back to the sideline. but he didnt get a penalty at all!! thats not fair.

heres the video of the patriots celebration

  1. One referee's rules are different from another.  What is celebration to one isnt to another, just like strike zones differ in baseball by umpire.

  2. I've noticed that each team of officials has a different set of limits. They need to get on the same page.

But to imply that the Giants won because of that sounds like a lame defense. The Giants beat the Patriots and it's in the record books forever.

  3. Okay, so I know that you either love him or hate him, but I'm a huge Cowboys fan and I'm sorry, T.O. gets scrutinized for every little move!  I was at the game in Miami when they penalized him for looking around the goalpost like he was hiding... but because he had the football in his hand, he got slapped!  That's c**p!  If they are going to penalize, it has to be across the board, not just when they feel like it!

I say, if its too gray a rule, get rid of it!!!

  4. yea they the rules suck i wish they could do what they want to a certain point i love to see some crazy celebrations

  5. Well, I agree that it isn't fair.  However here is my theory on this.  One thing that may have occurred is what they call, "paying off the refs".  This may sound crazy but it is a possibility.  You see in the game where Moss caught the touchdown pass, this was the game where the Giants should have won.  So there might have been a pay off on the giants side to call that penalty.  Sometimes coaches and organizations do whatever it takes to win games.  And if that means the Refs get payed off, then so be it.  Any football fan knows that the Refs can get payed by coaches or other officials to hand out calls.  Its just the nature of the game.  It doesn't happen often, but it may have happened in that game.  I'm probably wrong but its my theory behind, and either way it was a bad call and it shouldn't have happened, pay off or not.

  6. I don't remember there being a flag thrown for that celebration. I think your talking about Maroney doing a celebration with a teamate that led to a flag then a TD for the Giants.

I wish they would allow any type of celebration, let them have fun! lol

  7. Here is a different view of the same play in the Patriots-Giants game.

There are at least three refs standing there allowing the celebration to continue and no flags.  You can see almost everything up until the celebration is over and the teams are lining up for the try.  There are no flags or whistles (a penalty between plays would also get a whistle because the play clock would have to be stopped).

Does anyone have proof that there was a penalty for Unsportsmanlike Conduct on this play?  I don't see any on either of these clips.

Friendly Stranger: If you are suggesting that a coach would even attempt to buy off a ref then you have no concept  of the entire system.  That is c**p that fans make up because they cannot beleive their team could actually lose a game  You are speaking from a place of ignorance if you think that any coach or offical would either attempt such conduct or could engage in such conduct without being caught.
