I hate the number 18?

I hate that number, in my town, you can't do like anything unless you are 18 years old. You can't work at a clothing store, a sporting good store, fancy resturants, or even some fast food resturants. I ve tried everwhere to get a job, and places are either

1. NOT HIRING

2. you have to be 18

3. day shifts

and being 16, i can't find a job

And i need money, i need a car, and money for insurance, and money for clothes and shoes, and school supplys, and food when i don't want to eat the schools food.

I just don't get why it is so hard for a teen to get a job

surveys are a joke.  it's a myth.  they just get you to give all your personal info and use it to sell.  so forget that.

in Calif.  at age 16 you can work at fast foods and some retail parttime.  grocery stores bagging etc.

I don't know if you are a boy or girl or what state you are in, but you should advertise for babysitting, cleaning garages, weeding, cleaning childrens' rooms and help organizing closets etc. for houses close to you.  make a flyer and put in ON (not in) mail boxes.  a general mother's helper.  I have all kinds of things a 16 yr old could help me with if I had one.

you won't make a fortune, but it's something to get on your resume.  15 and 16 are rough ages - you need money, but are not old enough to work.

ask you parents if you could do a contract to do more work at your home for more allowance.  I tried to do that with my girls (now in early 20's) but they would never follow through but still wanted the money!

when you promise to do some - with your parents or a neighbor or an employer - always do it - and do a little more just to prove you are great!! they will usually pay you more because people love young people who are trying to help themselves and achieve.

im 16 and it sucks, noone hires anyone under 18. i live in ny, theres really nothing we can do =\
