Question:

I hate to beat a dead horse once again, but do you think the IOC should investigate China's gymnast's age?

This isn't a matter of "sour grapes or sore looser." I posted a comment a while back, and I said that it really shouldn't matter, but in retrospect? Rules are rules. If China is breaking the rules and the IOC is turning a blind eye? That's so not cool. I still believe that Nastia Liukin should have won gold. Whatever mathematical equation that was used to decide between He and Nastia is beyond my comprehension.

  1. I think most people know what the Chinese Government did last summer.

  2. They announced 3 days ago that the IOC asked the FIG to investigate, so you're a little late here. They have to give definitive proof that the gymnasts are under 16, and even though there are several reports saying they are underage, they have received official documents from China and their families that state they are 16. Probably nothing will happen if they can't prove it without a doubt.

  3. I agree 100 percent but they won't so we just have to get over it.  It really does suck.

  4. I'm gonna have to agree with you - what they did was wrong.  We also saw something in the girl's volleyball game yesterday.  One of the team members playing the US (don't remember who) touched the ball and the US lost.

  5. They just asked FIG to investigate it. Did you read it?

Anyways WHERE IT STARTS: Liukin and He each scored a 16.725. They had identical 7.7 start values (the measure of a routine’s difficulty) and 9.025 execution scores. The execution mark is based on the perfect 10.0 scale, and is arrived at by tossing out the highest and lowest of the six judges’ marks, and averaging the remaining four.

THE FIRST TIE-BREAK: The four deductions that counted are added together and averaged. He and Liukin were still tied.

THE SECOND TIE-BREAK: The three-lowest deductions are added together and averaged. He had .933 in deductions and Liukin had .966, meaning He had .033 less in deductions—and was declared the winner.

In my opinion, I just think Nastia deserve to get the bronze medal. Her performance even worse than another China player.

Don't believe me, eh? Well, go back and listen to Tim Daggett's comments during the routines of the three medalists. For the Chinese gold winner, he points out "wow a major deduction" and a fault on the landing. For Nastia, he points out a leg separation and another major deduction in which he says she is "nowhere near vertical" and "if the judges want to they could take off a lot".

I think Nastia's A score was a little bit too high for what she actually did. There were very few release elements and none required the level of skill that both He and Tweddle did. Most of it was pirouettes and handstands, which He, Yulin and Tweddle also did.

If anyone was ripped off, it was Tweddle's A score. Go back and watch it again and tell me that Nastia did ANYTHING anywhere near as remotely difficult as that. You simply can't. Either Tweddles was higher than 7.8, or Nastia's should be nowhere near 7.7.

  6. the IOC cant really prove anything unless they have official documentation and its verfied they cant prove anything, everybody denies it so i mean there is no way to prove and all the articles about it theyve been "finding" they cant verfy that either

  7. Kooties, the olympics are off the hinges. Did ya see track and field. lawd. I do think Nastia deserves a gold medal, I thought they would give a dual gold medal. I think the coach is still asking how they came to that conclusion. Crazy. Rules are rules. You are awesome. These olympics are crooked son. China can have many passports made they are a communist country that wants to show off as I would had I been hosting the Olympics, only I would not cheat. Plenty of papers have the coaches saying she is underage in many articles in China mind you. but the FIG found no wrong doing I read it this morning. if ya need link let me know. I am still confused.lol

  8. They did investigate and according to one of the headlines I saw it was said they couldn't find any evidence to prove that rules were broken.

However, I say that it should be done again because both mom and I commented about just how young these girls really are.  Some of them to me looked like they were about 11 years old.  I too worry about the health of these girls if they are as young as I think they might be.

  9. They are investigating it now, aren't they? But anyways, I don't see why everyone is so hung up on cheating in age, but not on doping. Are amphetamines and other steroids so common that people don't even care anymore?

  10. I agree with you!!

In better English, the Chinese girl fell and NASTIA  did not!!

so she had the right to win!!

  11. h**l yes! As you said it is not an issue of being the losing side, h**l Norway could have won and had underage females competing and it would still be an issue in my book. The fact is, rules are rules, and they are put in place for a reason. How is it any different from steroid usage. You cant impose certain restrictions on certain people, and you cant look at one rule as less important than another.  It should be even across the board. That being said, the whole basketball team from spain doing that "eye" picture was b/s too. Had it have been Kobe, or anyone on the American team, they would have been fined and crucified. I think every major issue in the 08 Olympics has been treated the opposite of how it should have been.

  12. I just feel that the IOC should investigate because the health of these girl's is in danger. They probably will not find sufficient evidence because the government is responsible for everything, but if these girl's are in fact underage, the training could be causing irreversible damage to their underdeveloped bodies.
