  1. Maybe you could talk to the administration of your school and have the conversation recorded.

  2. WOW!! You have every reason to be angry. That's really inappropriate of your teacher. Regardless of how many colored students are in your school, using words like that can make anyone uncomfortable. If I were you, I'd go straight to the principle, especially if you don't feel comfortable with this teacher.

As a future teacher myself, I can't believe this guy. It's frustrating that people like this are teaching our students. Ridiculous.

  3. Does he really use that word?

Report him to the administrator, principal, vice, etc

And you have every right to be angry.

    I cannot believe it!

  4. That's awful and only shows your teachers ignorance.  I think the best thing for you to do, is talk this over with your parents who may have some suggestions.

If you or they want to take it further (without the fear of repurcussions) perhaps you could approach the school counsellor?

Last resort would be the school principal - however in saying that if the principal isn't in agreement with you about stopping this awful behaviour, there are other channels such as the Board of Trustees or whichever government department in your country deals with education issues.  You don't have to put up with this awful and demeaning behaviour!

  5. You deserve respect. We are all colors and are in a variety of shades and if American -very mixed nationalities and he knows that this is racist. As a teacher he knows that he is in a position of power and it is his job to be a role model. He should never make you feel less  than another student. Does he refer to his white students as "Cracker" or "Redneck"?

I think not. That is not right, either!

It is his job to teach tolerance and not cause a rift between students. His statements may make other students in the school call you the same thing.

It may be hard but I would either go to the teacher and tell him that you or your parents would appreciate it if he stopped saying that word in class. Tell him that it has made other students say that word also and you are offended. You may even want to write a note to him... if you are afraid to confront.

If he is not the type of teacher to do this with....is there another teacher that you feel comfortable with to talk with? Maybe they can talk with him for you?  This way you are giving him an option to stop before trying to take it to the administration.

If it continues after this....you have to take it to the administration. I would find a few students that will back you and tell the administration the same thing also.

Racism is never ok.....it is very hard sometimes to stand up for what is right. I am very sorry that you have to put up with this. Keep your chin up. Don't ever be afraid to stand up for the right thing. You will be helping 20 students and many, many more students over the years with this awful ignorant man.

  6. You should turn him into the school district.  Go directly to the school district's main office or contact a school board member and tell them what is going on.  Make sure to document when and where it happened.  Also document who heard the teacher say these things.  Do not get angry or ignore this person.  Do what any concerned citizen would do.  Contact the proper authority.
