I hav a great but simple idea in creating a design in clothing. How do I get it off the ground, to a gd start?

I have a over-locker and plain sewer that I bought as a hobbie, so Im not very experienced in the arena of clothes design, I have just started sewing for the family & the design I have created, which very simply entered my mind while sewing has now got most my familly ecouraging me, that my idea needs to be out there....So Im looking for help somewhere hoping a lead may point me to the right directions I may be able to take to start me off.
