  1. Take as many outdoor experiences I you can to explore the beauty of this young island and fill up your experience pocket. There are lots of resources that you can search for great activities. Every time my friends ask me what to do there, I tell them my favorite and highly suggested references:

  2. I was in Auckland for like half a day, they have a lot of shops to go to. You should drive to Rotoroa, they have a lot of fun stuff to do. We went on a luge, visited a geothermic park, saw people zorbing (we didn't), and we visited a Maori village. You have to see more than one city to truly experience New Zealand!

  3. Please put your question in the New Zealand category!

It's like putting Canada in USA and an ocean separates NZ and Australia..

Other questions answered great.. depends what you like to do..

Northland can be pretty and you can drive up on Ninety Mile Beach.

Yes Rotorua is thermal and you can see boiling mud and steaming lakes etc. And Lake Taupo is close.

You can also drive to Coromandel on the east coast

Rent a car if you want to go out of Auckland which I recommend. Or you could try a tour and get on a tour bus.

Look up tour buses or even just buses/trains that go from one city to another.

  4. Drive to Rotarua and see the boiling mud and live volcano activity,
