They seems content and the tank i try to keep as clean as possible.. i got a gravel vac and as soon as i recieve it i plan to stay using that to minimize the ammonia build up in the water. I also bought a small filter for the tank and it as an air pump that pumps an adequate amt of air thru the tank. I have a live plant for better oxygen as well. I have a snail (which they do not bother) and an algea eater that cleans the snails shell and helps with clean up. I also change my water atleast every 3-4 days. I bought them from wal-mart so when i got them they had some body fungus and what looked to be signs of ick. I am treating them for the body fungus now and will the ick as soon as i get the medication that i ordered.

  1. Goldfish (even moors) will get bigger, and no, the 1.6 gallon isn't even big enough for one.   The one inch of fish to 1 gallon of water doesn't apply here because goldfish are more fuller bodied (one inch of goldfish is more than one inch of tetra).  It is suggested 3-5 gallons per inch of fish in goldfish.  a filter will be a great help in an aquarium.  i would suggest a 20+ gallon and you could even get a few more.  The pleco will grow too, if it is a common pleco, 18 inches is it's full size.

Note: many ich/medicines will harm your snail -  the copper and other ingredients will kill it.  Remove it while you treat the tank and keep it separate until treatment is stopped and 5-8 20-40% water changes later.

    Good luck!

  2. As a temporary hospital tank.. Yes... But for a permanent home, nope! Fancy goldfish need a minimum of 20 gallons each, 10 for each additional, so you would need a tank of 30 gallons.

What happens to a goldfish when they are cramped in  a 1.6 gallons tank

    Their body stops growing

    But the organs don't...

and then the organs will get so big that they will literally explode.

So my advice is that you would put them in a 30 gallon tank.

Also Goldfish are very messy fish, they defecate and urinate a lot, so you would need to change the water everyday in a smaller tank.

    Good Luck!

Edit: You can treat the fungus and ick  with  a salt bath, Put them in a 1 gallon container and add one tablespoon of aquarium salt, and every 30 minutes add a pinch of salt. Do this for about 3 hours, when you have time.

  3. NO!!!! it doesn't matter how much u clean, the tank is WAY TOO SMALL!! even for one goldfish. black moors will get 10 inches if provided with the right space, and 1.6 gallons doesn't cut it (for goldies or any living fish). black moors need 30g+ tanks when young, 50 (75 would be better) when older.  the tank u have them in will soon stunt them if they aren't moved. get a larger tank/give them away to someone who has one asap!!! (or, you could keep the fish in there and stunt and kill them. ur choice.)

  4. Yes, but don't get anymore and don't crowd the aquarium. Three fish is the limit.
