  1. I would call the school and ask to talk to the special ed director or the autism specialist. They will most likely provide more information on curriculum and specific programs used than the school district's website would provide.

I just moved with my two sons who are just about the same age, both with autism. They handled the move, new house, and new school remarkably well. I was amazed. I hope if you decide to do this, things go just as well.

  2. I also have 2 children with autism (4 & 6 years old).  Here is a website that I found with many autism schools listed along with links to the schools' website.

    New Jersey Autism Schools

    http://www.theautismeducationsite.com/Ne...

  3. I believe that Hillsborough is not far from the Rutger's New Brunswick/Douglass campus. They have a Developmental Disabilities Center there with a school for children with autism. If you contact the store to ask questions about admission and transportation, you may be able to get your children in a good program.

If not, you may need to look into social services agencies nearby that can supply respite therapy to your child.

  4. Go online to the school district web site--the link should be on the city's web page. Questions concerning Special Ed placement should be specified within the special education part. If not,get the phone number and call with your questions and concerns.
