I have 2 desktop computers and i want to share a internet connection, i need step by step on how to install it

i have cable internet. and i have the main computer modem and i have a extra 1 and a wireless 1 ..

1) buy a wireless router.  should be pretty cheap now.

2) hook the cable modem to wireless router using an ethernet cable.

3) hook the wireless router to non-wireless computer using an ethernet cable (the wireless router will still have wire hookup in the back)

4) the wireless one should automatically detect the wireless router and connect to that.

To clarify, you have a modem that the cable company gave you or you bought - you have 1 more modem? and what wireless? If you have a router all you have to do is follow the instructions to set up a home network. If you do not, go online to the company's website and they should have documentation there for you. The basics of home networking concept is that usually a router will give you 4 - 6 ports. Each port (network connection) can be connected to a computer with a cable. Usually you will login to your router through the web browser to configure your router. But again, you will need the documentation to know what ip to hook up to and the adiministrator password and such.
