I have 2 female platies and 1 male whitch breeding grass is best for breeding fake or live breeding grass?

if live then better but fake can be good but it should be so thick and unreachable by bigger fish so that the small ones hide there and eat eat algae and avoid eaten by bigger fish. I dont know how my platy successfully gave birth to a few young fish on a community tank with really big fish. i put a castle there and i always saw them hiding in it and some small fish also likes fake leaves that algae can easily grow. they eat algae.
