I have 2 hermit crabs that are shy now but seemed very hyper at the store around lots of other hermit crabs.?

Will they become more hyper if i get more hermit crabs. If so how do i convince my mom to let me get more(lol.)

well they do not get more hyper they are just exited to be in a new tank, meeting a new crab

so yes they are hyper at first

tell your mom that they travel in hundreds and thousends so for them to be in a pair for now is fine but will become a problem soon so another hermit crab ....atleast one is a must.

also tell her that they are quit animals and will live for a long time so it is defently not a waste of money

on your other question someone said theyr lifespan in a tank is 5 years that is a total lie! if you take good care or them and keep them healthy they will live to the fulles of their 80 year life span ofcourse by then you might need a bigger tank! lol

so ya tell her its a must to have at least 3 hermit crabs. my advise to you is get atleast two more but put them in care fully meaning hurmit crabs dont always get along so put the new one in that 1 gallon tank for about two to 3 days and have the hermit crabs visit each other outside of the tanks maybe when ur giving them a bath that way they dont kill each other over their teratory. keep doing these visits untill ur sure that they are happily compatible with each other then start puting th new crab in for a whole day if every thing goes well keep him there but obsrve him accationaly.

give them more time to get used to there habitats get them some hermit crab cookies at petsmart and treats like that. My firneds crab loved to eat raw scallops from publix. put some logs and stuff for them to climb on and do every thing oyu can to make them feel at home.
