Well of course you want to mention that half of the world's people are without adequate water.  There is shooting war in Darfur and other poor countries.  Developed countries are not exempt.  Major disputes over water rights have developed between States in the US (Georgia, Iowa, Florida, Colorado, Arizona, California).  The Federal Government has found the role it chose for itself as the arbiter of these disputes more and more uncomfortable as the water runs out.
