They're both about bike riding...

1. How many calories do I burn bikeriding for 5 miles on flat ground?

2. Does bikeriding help reduce the fat on my stomach, thighs and hips?

Thank you!

  1. 1. There is no way a website, cycle computer or saffron-clad guru on a mountain-top, can tell you how many calories you have burned cycling!!!  (there are too many variables and any answer would be a best guess)

    2.  ANY form of excercise will eventually reduce fat on stomach, thighs and hips, -  if your calorific expenditure exceeds your intake.

Fat deposits are largely genetic and stomach/hip fat may be reduced by 'sit-ups' and 'hula-hoops' - cycling mainly excercises quads' and your cv system!  - so you may be out of luck with your request.

Sorry to sound negative, but thems the facts.

    Best of luck, anyhow.

  2. Check out bicycling.com; click on the "TRAINING" menu item near the top right and use the "calorie counter"

    2.   Biking will help, but only if you watch the caloric intake.   Try mixing in off road biking to work the abs more.

  3. 1)it depends how hard your riding the flat...if u really wanna kno go to sport chalet or some sporting good store and get a heart rate monitor that tells you how many callories you burn...they are not too expensive either

2)yes but you will have to ride alot and actually ride hard e.g. areas with a lot of up hills
