I have 2 sets of 5.1 surround speakers, where should i place the speakers to get best sound quality?

I have 2 sets of 5.1 surround speakers, where should i place the speakers to get best sound quality?

2 in the back (one on the left and the other on the right) for backround action. 2 in the front( one on the right and one on the left) for up-close action. and the rest on top of your TV and the other on the ground.

dont put them in one place together...i say put the across the room from eachother behind where u sit so u get good tone quality and surround sound

2 sets? 1 set should be enough. unless you have a receiver powerful enough to output to 11.1 then 7.1 is your best bet.

never seen a 11.1 setup but seen receivers in audiophile magazines.

put them in the back corner of the room you want them in

so they surround the room

Lots of good advice here already. If they are all the same speaker make and model you might experiment. If not, choose the best set and use them exclusively. Voicing changes dramatically from one type of speaker to the next. Mixing never achieves good results.

In a THX or ITU-R setup (for Dolby digital or DTS):

Center: above or below the TV

Front Left and Right: about even with the center, at least 4 feet away in both directions.

Surround Left and Right: approximately even with your ears or slightly behind, to the left and right of your seating area.

Putting speakers behind you is no longer used unless you have a 7.1 receiver. Sound engineers at the studios now plan for the surround speakers to be left and right of you.

If all of your speakers are the same, Yamaha makes a great sounding 11.1 system (RX-Z11) but it's pretty expensive. $6000.00, and you'd have to buy one more speaker.
