The car has 17" stock rims. It also has a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. If I get bigger rims how do I transfer the TPMS. I want to keep stock rims for the winter (cuz of snow here in MD) and the bigger rims just for warmer seasons is it going to be a big pain to switch back and forth once a year? I dont know anything about TPMS so please help me out. Thanks

  1. I am in the process of doing the same concept with my car. The TPMS is a sensor that goes inside the tire wear the valve stem is. If you plan on keeping the factory tires and rims. You mind as well get the new rims and order a set of TPMS to go with them. It would be a hassle for you to switch them out every season since the tires would have to come off the rims for the process. Check out tirerack.com for reference. They sell them and have plenty of info on TPMS.

  2. To make the switch easy you would need to buy four more transmitters for your new wheels. The valve stem is part of the TPMS so it would be a big pain to remove the transmitter every time you switch the wheels.

  3. I would suggest you visit a tire store for some help. A shop that mounts tires.
