  1. Why not pick several styles and let them each wear their own dress? That is what my girls are doing. Even if you are thin, you don't necessarily have the same figure.

  2. My girls were around the same size, but one was very modest and the other not so much. So what I did was I gave them the color I wanted and they chose the type of dress.

We got our dresses at David's Bridal. They have a great selection of "mix and match" seperates so you can pick what ever you want.

  3. I have 3 bridesmaids that are very different shapes and sizes as well, so I am getting them to each buy a black knee length dress that suits them, and they feel comfortable in. That way they are in the same colour, but they feel okay.  My friend did this for her wedding and it looked great

  4. yea a size 2 is like a 6 or 8 if you were size 2 in britain you would be annorexic!

A nice dress would be a summery one with bright coloured high heels, but dont make it too reveling.

  5. i went to a wedding, were all of the brides maid dresses were slightly different. they were all the same length and color but each dress was fitted and styled to the perticular girl. they werent hugely differnt just enough that each dress was unique and fitted the girl perfectly.

    it looked amazing.

  6. My attendants ranged from 5, 7, 15, and 17 - and the first three sizes were able to come dress looking and shopping. I had the measurements of the size 17 MOH. It was a matter of starting with just seeing the styles - and ignoring the trends. They fell in love with a pretty summer dress - tea-length, short sleeve, criss-crossed straps at the back, deep vee-front - but the saving grace was a basque waistline, which led to a full skirt. This made the fabric glide down over the hips and hide any tummy - an amazing style which looked just as good on the smaller women as the larger.

Now that I'm the size of your largest maid, I can definitely tell you that I would never wear some of the dresses other answerers are suggesting - for example, strapless, or the ones with sashes right under the bust would really need to be tried because they could make a stomach look bigger.

You don't say what your colours are! But some ideas...

This first site has nice dresses, and I'm sure the lowest size 14 can be easily altered for the smaller sized bridesmaid (who would probably take at least a 12 in a BM dress anyway - they fit small).

Of course, choosing one colour is a great option, too, but please don't go with black - it makes a larger woman look dowdy.

  7. well i would have each girl go to a store, then have them chose a dress that complments each other....having the girl chosse their dress will boost thier conifidence and it will also be a great expierence.. dont get any thing to tight

  8. I would find a dress that cinges at the waist so it comes out and over anything... I wish you luck, and congrats on getting married(:

each one of these dresses hit just above the knee & would be flattering for a different kind of girl. the first one would be good for someone of the hourglass figure. the wrap makes the waist look smaller and curves bigger. the second would look well on on a bustier girl. it tones down her curves and looks very elegant. the third, the more flowy dress would be good for any body shape. it comes down off the top of the chest and flows nicely. be sure to have these girls in heels. always makes every girl look sexier. it is so kind of you to consider your bridesmaids body types before choosing their dress!

    good luck!

  10. i would choose a color and let girl choose a style that suits her.

  11. Hi and congratulations!

So nice of you to think of your girls and wanting them to look nice.  I have been to lots of weddings with all the "new styles" and I can tell you that I do NOT think it is flattering to the girls to wear a strapless dress.  I urge you not to get one.  Instead, here are a few from the Alfred Angelo site that I think would look good on all the figures.  The first two are a bit longer than you wanted (tea length), with the others being the shorter length.  I think that any of these would be flattering for all the girls:

  12. It doesn't matter what size you are.  I am an 18/20.  What I have heard of is telling your bridesmaids what color you want and then they get whatever dress they want in that color.  A pretty style is the empire style where it is fitted at the bust then full after the bust.  Maybe because of your bigger bridesmaid you should go with a longer dress.  A 10 isn't huge at all.  I would give anything to be a size 10.  A size 2 is too skinny.  My daughter is a size 2 but she is 11.  A size 2 sounds anorexic to me.  I wouldn't want to be that thin.  It doesn't look healthy nor can it be healthy.

  13. A shorter dress will only look flattering on the girl who is size 10. Go with A-line dresses that are right below the knee, that will hide the thickest part of the leg, or with long A-line dresses that will elongate their figure.

Lots of bridal shops now have mix and match separates that let you combine different tops and skirts in the same color but in different colors and sizes- you can't tell they are separates, and each girl can pick a suitable style.

  14. Try telling the girls they must all wear the same color in the same length - but let them have slightly different styles that flatter them individually. So, one could have a halter top and another a strapless dress but they'd still look similar.

  15. The best/neatest thing I've ever seen:

The bride selects the color she wants her attendants to wear and then allows them to choose their own dresses.

You can be as strict or relaxed as you want.  For example, you might hand out color swatches, go with them to the shop, choose the same shoes, etc.  I've also seen it done where the ladies are just instructed to choose a "fairly modest lavender dress, approximately knee-length."  The girls were all in slightly different shades, which had a very lovely effect with the different shades of the flowers.

If you can be okay with your bridesmaids wearing slightly different styles, you do them a service by allowing each to choose something that suits individual body type a little better.  They are your friends, after all, and you don't want to wedge them all into the same dress if it's just going to make one look worse than the others.  And having lovely, happy bridesmaids will make the whole experience better for you.  Everyone will talk about how gorgeous you were, instead of talking instead about how they wished that so-and-so weren't standing in front of the whole time in an unflattering dress.

  16. Consider different dresses but of the same color and maybe same or similar fabric. There isn't a lot that's going to flatter a size 26 woman and a size 10 woman (I know because I've been as high as a 22 and as low as a 7 myself).

  17. muumuus, or anything loose, but no tight mini skirts, that's just plain wrong.

  18. If they all wear the same dress, it will show off the size difference .

I agree with the people who suggest having them each pick a dress that looks great on them in matching colors or the same color.

Perhaps make an appointment for each of them and you to go pick out a dress.Sounds like a fun day.

    Congratulations .

You sound like a caring friend.

  19. Select a color.  Give each girl a swatch of your chosen color.  Ask her to match it as closely as possible.  Let each girl select a dress flattering to her body type.

Their dresses do not have to be identical.  As long as they are the same color and same level of formality, everything will be fine.

  20. You can have them all made for each person, instead of buying or ordering a dress. Stay away from strapless dresses, they dont flatter plus sizes. In my opinion (being plus size myself) they make plus size people look bigger. And you dont want the girls pulling up their tops every 5 mins lol Pick something with semi thick straps and a sort of flowly a line dress maybe. I think at the knee or longer would be better. but thats my opinion. Oh and you can save money on having the dresses made by buying your own fabric.

  21. I am in the similar situation and I let the girls pick outwhat style they liked best and what looks good on them, as long as they were all the same color they look great

  22. How important is it that they all wear the same dress? I had all of bridesmaids in different dresses that they chose themselves. I had a tall skinny bridesmaid, a short skinny one, and one that was really chesty. By them picking their own dress, they were all comfortable in what they picked out. i worried a little that it would not look right, but they all looked great!

  23. A line dresses are always best. Avoid strapless. You may have more luck with a two piece ensemble, or have them wear the same skirt with a different top.

Davids bridal and alfred angelo both have separates for bridesmaids that could work.

I had 3 bridesmaids - size 5, size 18, and size 10 but 71/2 mos. pregnant. Yeah it was a challenge. We went with an empire waisted dress and everyone looked great.

  24. I have 4 bridesmaids and they are size 5 size 14 size 18 size 22 so its a big gap, what i did is told them the color and asked them all to get long dresses, bigger girls usually arnt comfortable with there legs and they all went a picked a dress that made them feel comfortable!! they all look gorgeous and area all confident. Thats what i want for them! i get married on sept 13th this year!!! good luck to you!!

also i went to davidsbridal.com and went under the tux section and they have this program that lets you make avatars and dress them it helped me out a lot. well goodluck!

  25. i had bride's maid from a size 8 up through a 22 i believe, 20's anyway, and this is the dress i put them in. i cut off the belt and added a sash and it looked good on all of them. and it is very affordable and it fit all but one girl without alterations

  26. Hi, I had all the girls pick there own black dress because I was dealing with the same thing....PLUS the I had 5 different complexions as well.  It was soo pretty.  And all the girls looked so pretty and comfertable.

  27. First of all: Pennylane you are mean.  Second:  I am in a wedding that is a similar situation to yours--so many different sizes and shapes.   We just went as a group and each tried a couple different styles to see what we each felt comfie in.  We all loved this one particular dress that has ribbing thru the middle and essentially was very flattering on everyone... there is no perfect answer here, but when you all go together or at least one person who can help un biasedly it seems to just work out and you eventually find the one that everyone can handle--keep in mind that you can't please everyone so someone is bound to not like sleeves, but someone else adores sleeves--that is where you can put your foot down and say i pick this one.  As an adult, people should be able to realize this is YOUR day and they can make some tiny sacrifices.

  28. If these girls have a big bust then I highly suggest you stay away from strapless. They should have some kind of straps for support. An A-line dress looks great on every figure. Or, if you are open to them wearing different style dresses you can do separates - or you can have them all wear different dresses in the same color.

Here are a few dresses that I think would flatter each of your bridesmaids:
