  1. Yes to all three - - - despite nitpicking by historian Washington has withstood attacks all through History and remains the best beloved President a man of true personal & moral courage.  Hardworking & intelligent he was able to appeal t broad range of people and enlist their support against those few who chose to be his enemies.  As a General he was perhaps not the greatest of generals but for the times he was the best forging an army where there was none and holding together a cause often seemingly lost.  Washington was a great man which in turn made him a great general which in turn ensured that he would the greatest of American Presidents.

  2. All three are very subjective, greatness means alot of different things

    1.  He led America to a huge upset win over England.  Knowing that and nothing more, I would say he was a great general.

    2.  He was a unifying force as president and most importantly stepped down voluntarily.  Imagine leaving the presidency, Brett Favre cant leave the NFL, this man could have been king until he died.  That alone makes him great.

    3.  He was certainly a great American man.

  3. 1. He was not the greatest general in the world, there were other men more qualified for the job, but he was the best man for the job. He lost as many battles as he won, but he always preserved his army, attacked when he thought the Brits were weak, and eventually defeated them with a bunch of farmers. So, yes.

    2. He laid the foundations for the USA, kept us neutral in the many years of war between Britain and France, and kept the country safe in its weakest hour. So, yes.

    3. He is one of the few figures in history that has stood unbowed from attacks by historians. He was modest, hard-working, and had great moral character. So, once again, yes.

  4. He was not all that great a general.  he never won a single battle.

    He was a helluva pres

Who knows.  He made his money in whiskey.
