  1. Friend,

    - If you have already submited the Rent Receipts for previous year to the employer, they might have calculated it and included that details in your form 16. You can find this under Row-2 under section 10.

If you do not get the details in form 16, you can  claim it while  you are filing the tax return. For this, you need details regarding the total HRA paid to you from company [ which you can calculate from your salary sleep OR company also can provide you certificate for it]

Let me know if you have further question.

  2. yes u can

  3. yes i suppose you can... good question!

  4. If you were paid HRA by your employer, then you can take deduction for HRA. For howmuch you can deduct, read about HRA in this article

  5. Form 16 is a proof of income and deduction of income tax at source. It has nothing to do with your tax liability in totality. What you should do is re calculate your taxable income giving efact of the rent paid by you.  Do not forget to include your other income like Interest on savings.

Find out your net tax payable and thenciam refund for the differential amount by filling of FOrm 30.

In case of dificulty in calculation send your details at manojchouhan67@gmail.com
