Maybe. overall performance will improve, yes your computer will run much, much better. Probably with gaming too.... you can also buy a better video card to improve gaming performance.

The number one thing you can do for gaming is upgrade the Video Card.

In your case, however, RAM is a close second.  Right now, you probably have 512MB installed, but 64MB is being used by the integrated video card on the motherboard (shared RAM solution).  Installing a video card will free up that 64MB back to Windows.  I would definitely bump it up to 2GB.  You didn't say if you had a laptop or desktop, so I would also suggest looking at upgrading the CPU if possible as a third option.

Don't forget too that reinstalling Windows from scratch can make a world of difference in speed, as it gives you a fresh new registry that isn't clogged with the mess of apps you've installed/uninstalled over the years.
