  1. Nothing will happen.

Female bettas don't get pregnant - eggs are released during the spawning process, which are then cared for by the males until they hatch. Females, especially when they can see a male, get 'eggy' - their bellies swell full of eggs. If they don't spawn, they will either simply absorb the eggs back into their bodies, or they will release them, often times eating them afterwords. There's nothing to worry about.

Spawning bettas is very complex, and is a huge time commitment (as well as money for the supplies and space for the possibly hundreds of jars for the young males!)

Males will blow bubblenests whether there is a female around or not - it's instinct. Don't worry - nothing's going to happen, your females won't die, your male won't die, the females will just get a little pudgy full of eggs.

  2. I would  put one of the females in the bowl and see if she lays her eggs in the bubble nest. Then take her back out and put the male back in. See if he'll fertilize them. The male usually takes care of the fry I believe. Try this site. There are many others out there to help you too. http://www.geocities.com/diperviper/Mati...

  3. well usually the male beta keeps the eggs  safe. you have to take the female out of the tank after she laid eggs. well i think it was a brilliant idea to use 1 male but you're going to need the male to keep the eggs guarded and safe. i'm not really sure what will happen with the other 4 females and the eggs. you should go to the pet store and ask or go on this website down here. it's on the fifth paragraph.  good luck!

  4. nothing..

they dont get pregnant they get eggs in there sack.. sorta like there in heat if they see a male they get eggs.. thats all... i wouldnt advice getting a male because he will care for those eggs and they will HATCH and then you will have like 32 betas then she might get a sack full again 32 more and when those 64 grow up if some are female and they see al those males.... 16*32 :O oh my goodness over 200 (unless you sell the other babyes but still dont get a male)

    simplified

beta chick no pregnant- beta chick see male. chick get eggy. if male no take care of eggy they no hatch.. if male do take care of eggy they hatch. more beta same thing happen again.. then to many baby and chick if no sell dead fishys everywhere!! :O

NVM YOU EDITED YOUR THING AND WROTE A TOTAL DIFFERENT THING IM NOT TYPING ANYMORE.. SO DONT GIVE ME BEST ANSWER IT AINT WORTH IT :P

  5. I love the wording of this question tell me what would you need the males for if the 5 females are as you say pregnant.

personnley I don't think I would try breeding bettas in anything less than a 5 gallon tank since you have to remove the female after they have breed and you do not want to disturbe the nest

if they don't breed it wont harm them check out this site

    www.bettatalk.com

lots of good info on breeding bettas
