It's my first car and I wanna make it look nice again

I realize I'll be spending well over what I paid for it ($3600) but if it's worth it then I'll do it. I'm 19 and my first car is a beamer. I don't think people are jealous but everyones always talking about how I've got a nicer car than I deserve.

Thing is it's kinda beat up. Though it's already got a hamann body kit on in it's missing some pieces from a previous accident. Some of the paint jobs are off color and there's some scratches/dents. Also the A/C don't work for ****. The computer chip might not be working correctly and the mileage is... **** I don't even know. I never know what's wrong with it until it happens. Car is old. But I love the car for what it is and was wondering if it's still worth a shot.

So what do you think? Should I put my money on this car?

  1. if this car is 1990 and salvage for $ 3600 plus $3600 to fix u must be out of ur mind.advice calculate before u do anything i don want u to be sorry.i have been working with salvage for 14 years. 70% of the time u spend more what u think .i would rather take a little loss now than a big one later plus my time .u may get mad at me but im telling u the truth.good luck making the wright decision

  2. As far as upgrading a car you will never get back what you put into it unless you're Chip Foose(very famous car fabricator/restorer).  I would remove all the parts off of it that are after market parts and parts that are hard to find or are known to fail frequently on those cars(including upholstery).  Then get whatever you can for it and buy one in better condition and install the parts on it yourself.  This is the best way to get the most for your money if you plan on getting the same type of car.

  3. Yes its a nice looking car, but for 3600 you can get a better 1990. I just bought a 1996 Dodge Intrepid for 900 and it just needs some work. Also, BMWs are expensive to fix, not being american made and all.
