What should I have organised by now? I have organised nearly everything, but is there anything in particular I should have done already?

I agree, www.theknot.com, has a checklist. They can even e-mail you every month with what you should have done and what you should be working on.

Brides.com is a great website to keep you organized. They offer your own personal website as well, that your guests can look at for up dates on wedding stuff and more knowledge of how the couple met and such. They have a checklist that you can print off, as well as an address book for all of your guests that you'll be inviting. They also have links to other websites for wedding stuff.

theknot.com has a great checklist, free to join, you can create a wedding website to keep people up to date, tell them where youre registered etc.  They have a "do this 6 months before, 4 months before, 2 weeks etc etc).  Step by step.  It's a great site.

I have a fantastic wedding planning book that my mother bought for me when I got engaged.  It's called "Planning a Wedding to Remember" by Beverly Clark.  It has so many answers to questions you didn't know you had and gives you information on contracts and all the things that could go wrong and how to prevent it.  It's excellent.  Anyway... According to my book, this is what should be done in six months:

Select a wedding date and time.

Make a preliminary budget.

Determine your wedding theme or style.

Reserve your ceremony and reception location.

Determine who will officiate at the ceremony.

Hire a wedding consultant if you plan to use one.

Decide on your color scheme.

Determine the size of the guest list.

Start compiling names and addresses of guests.

Select bridal attendants.

Have your fiance select his attendants.

Plan your reception.

Check catering facilities if at a club or hotel.

Select a caterer if one is necessary.

Select a professional photographer and videographer.

Select a professional florist.

Select your dress and headpiece.

Announce your engagement in the newspaper.

Select bridesmaids dresses.

Select engagement ring with fiance if he has not already done so.

Make transportation arrangements for wedding day.
