I have 70 cutlass and it keeps over heating i changed the thermostat but it still get really hot?

  1. the fan clutch ( yes this car 's fan has a clutch in it )

    When it gets hot its supposed to make the fan work harder.

    Takes too long to explain here.


  2. There are alot of posibilities besides the thermostat

    Leaks? hoses, radiator, block, heater core etc

    Belt

    is oil milky? head gasket

    is water circulating? clogged rad.


  3. how old is the radiator?, did you flush the cooling system?, is the waterpump working right?.

  4. Your radiator needs cleaned. You CAN NOT do it your self. Go to a RADIATOR SHOP and have it checked.
