Ok. My mother used to work in an office by the trailer park we live in. Her job was to sell new/used mobile homes. Well, her boss found a marriage album in one of those mobile homes, left behind by the previous owner. He gave us the album with the old photos from 1889. On the back side of the cover, there is a clipped out section of what seems to be a newspaper article with the date and names of the persons getting married and the witnesses. It gave out some information of where the bride and groom were from and where they were married. But not detailed enough to know exactly where...just a street number. It says they were married in Presbyterian Church on #101 Washington ST and the Reverend's name was Mr. Brewster. The Bride was from Cape May City and the Groom from Philada. So if any one can help me out, I can give out the names of the persons and such so that I may finally learn more about this album. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

  1. Try contacting the church, they should keep records of these sorts of thing even from that long ago

  2. I figured it out, thankfully I have access to my university's database. It happened at what is now the Ocean County Library in Toms River, NJ.  It's at 101 Washington St. It's a renovated Presbytarian Church.

If you scroll down, you can see a picture of it here:

It's a part of the Ocean County Courthouse Complex. Conveniently, that's were you can find the records of the marriage. I checked the NY Times and the Philadelphia Inquierer for that week and found no marriage announcement fitting that discription and my database of early American newspapers doesn't have any in New Jersey that cover that date, but the records should be easy enough to find. Monday simply give Ocean County, NJ a call and tell them what you're looking for and they will put you on the right track.

  3. i would suggest the the place where they keep the town records and the recording of these things
