I have been reading about women who lose their babies because them and their partner have conflicting blood types. Is this true? I am 15 weeks and I have invested alot of my emotions and heart into this baby. I would die if I could have prevented a miscarriage...

  1. I think there is great chance of an infection for the baby if a positive and negative blood mix up BUT I heard the mother has to be the negative carrier while the father is the positive.

  2. No.

The conflicting blood types come into play if the MOTHER is Rh negative (any negative blood type). It usually affects second pregnancies if a woman is sensitized to the Rh factor.

A woman should not be sensitized to the Rh factor nowadays because of a medication called Rhogam.

  3. Don't worry. The cases you read about are cases in which the mom had negative blood type and there exists a shot for women in this case (I know very well, since I'm o- and pregnant).

Everything is fine, try to relax, stress is the worst thing you can do when you are pregnant

    And CONGRATS! xx

  4. No it isn't true.  The only time a pregnancy is affected by blood typing is if the mother has the RH factor to worry about which you don't.
