I have AVG installed on my computer. Should I install SP2 also, or just leave the AVG to take care of things?

I have AVG anti virus installed, but should I also install SP2? The AVG runs daily at a scheduled time and everything seems okay. But installing SP2 be a good back up just in case?

SP 2 is NOTHING to do with virus and spyware, other than some of the patches make it more difficult for it to get in. There are some patches in it which are essential to keeping the machine secure. No virus or spyware protection can deal with these problems.

Applying SP2 (Service Pack 2) not only improves security issues, but also performance.

It is a requirement for most applications to work properly.

It is highly recommended to apply SP2.
