  1. I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just upgraded to AVG free 8.0 and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

  2. Assuming this is a legitimate progrogam i would say yes.

  3. Purchase a Mcafee Security CD from Office Depot.

  4. You should defiately have antivirus protection. A lot of internet security programs have it all in one suite. Check out http://netsecuritycentral.com where you'll find several different internet security suites to choose from.

  5. Avast is a good anti-virus

    http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-...  [Free home edition]

Avira is also a good anti-virus

    http://www.free-av.com

Remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC

  6. Avast is a really good anti-virus solution that can trak different kinds of bad stuff for your computer.

Spywareblaster will help you avoid spyware. Download it, update it, close it, and then it will protect you from spyware.

Comodo Firewall PRO is a good firewall that you'll need if you don't already have one.

A-squared free is an excellent spyware scanner; slow to scan but finds trojans, worms, spyware, adware, dialers, and lots of other stuff.

Ad-aware Personal? is good to have just in case, but I used to use it as my lone spyware scanner, but I got tons of adware while visiting my regular sites for research, so it's good to have if you couple it with another.

It may be a lot, but it works, and it's all free.  If you don't want so many programs you can ignore either a-squared or ad-aware, because they're both pretty good anyway...

I just googled your "antispy-personal" and it was flagged as a bad site with bad/illegitimate downloads...  You should uninstall your anti-spy personal...

  7. Yes, you need both of those below.  These are my strong recommendations:

Get these two solutions that actually are RELIABLE !!!

    AVAST and AD-AWARE.

These tools do an EXCELLENT job, and the "home' versions are FREE to the public.

(The business versions you should purchase)

    A.

    Avast free Home Edition

    Get it here:

    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht...

And please do a "thorough" scan as soon as you get it downloaded. The user interface is simple. Click the left side, and in the top menu that comes up, select thorough scan.

When it finds a culprit it throws up an alarm, then you DELETE the culprit, (do not quarantine).

Then allow it to run all of the time, and you will be completely protected. It will "automatically" update itself, also for free.

You only need to renew your registration once a year, also free.

Note: I KNOW of several people who have used AVG and Norton and have gotten a virus anyway.

Don't go with Zone Alarm as it is hoggy and conflicting.

I've tried them all, and have had wonderful results with DEPENDABLE AVAST for the last 5 years.

The corporation I work for uses the Pro version, and has never has an incident. Avast is your answer.

    B.

Get free Ad-AWARE spy-removal tool from Lavasoft

    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-a...

    1. Download, install and run this program weekly or more.

Then you can be really confident that you are protected at all times.

    ^j^

  8. There are some good free programs available but you will not get maximum protection from free ones. All these free programs offer paid subscriptions to their better programs and they are not very expensive for the protection they offer . Use some of the better free programs along with a good anti-virus . No one program is 100% . use a multi-layered defence .
