  1. Here are the instructions

  2. Well I would recommend you to use Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009. Its detection technology plus its malware detection and protection mechanism is very good. Well it doesn't cost much... But still if you cant afford it then go for it trial version and it will scan and delete the viruses you have. And if its an adware then install Ad-aware SE professional which will help you to remove the adwares + malwares.

Another thing... check your services.msc and taskmgr [Winkey+Run and type those] and check properly whether any illegal processes are running or not... If any malicious services are running then stop those services, if any illegal processes are running then choose "End Process Tree" and it will terminate those processes.

Note :: Make sure that you are not terminating any legal and authentic processes. Well in-stead of using taskmgr.exe download the tool "Process Explorer" and it will tell you the exact location of your executables which are currently running in your system as a process.

  3. go under tools on your browser's top part of the web page and click popupblocker and turn it on.you could have some spyware on your computer.

i suggest the following; here are a few things to clean up your computer:first go to the start panel and click RUN then type %temp% then delete EVERYTHING in that file but not the file itself.(this will help you clean up your computer a little bit)

*You should download avast antivirus software.(i also noticed that when i use Limewire while avast home edition is running it alerts me AS SOON as a file is about to be finished downloading if it has a virus and lets you delete it! always keep it open in your toolbar) you can set the sensitivity and scan selected aread if you want. go to http://download.com and search for avast and then download it.

*i also suggest going to http://ccleaner.com and download that. run it everytime you close your browser.

    * i also suggest getting Zonealarm Firewall(one of the best)which can be found on http://download.com,

*Spybot Search and destroy(re install it it works well with the other programs i listed)which can be found at http://safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/... ),

    * SUPERAntispyware as well.(which can be found at http://superantispyware.com 2 of those are adware/spyware scanners and can remove spyware. it is always good to have more than one antispyware. make sure you update these daily. these programs are all free. make sure you update all these downloads(when you open them you can click "check for updates) once all are updated STOP ALL internet activity and run each scanner one at a time. Also go to Mycomputer, Click drive C, then click the Windows Folder, then find the Prefetch Folder Open that (dont delete the folder itself) and delete all the items in that. do that after you scanned your computer. oh and by the way AVG is not as good as Avast! read reviews online. ALL of these programs i listed you can get for free

  4. Delete these files :

    av2008xp.exe

    AntivirusXP2008.exe

  11. I found a small executable file on the internet that targets this particular problem. I have used it to eliminate Antivirus XP 2008 on three computers with no ill effects.

    Search for "SmitfraudFix.exe"

(The users I assisted were trying to install a codec in order to see a video clip when the problem started.)

  13. Firstly, antivirus programs will NOT remove these as they are malicious codecs, although they may find reference to them and remove it but upon rebooting it's back again.  It is NOT a virus but a rogue program.

The following free programs will remove it:

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Removes Antivirus:

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant...

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

    Spybot S&D:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl...

Download, install, update and Immunize, then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

Spyware Doctor Free Basic Edition - Realtime monitoring:

    http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_inst...

Its free with Google pack, untick all boxes except Spyware Doctor. Download install, update and run.

    SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition:

    http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware...

Download, install, check for updates, then select Scan your Computer, select your drive and select Perform Complete Scan

    VundoFix:

    http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/gl...

Disconnect your computer from the internet

    Run vundo

    Restart your computer

Run the tool again to ensure no traces are left.

If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

If your desktop has changed or icons are missing also use:

    Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Wallpaper_Hija...

Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.
